UBUNTU: I am because we are
"Ubuntu is a view that suggests that it is not through solitude that we discover who we are, but through relationships with other people. It is in the courageous encounter with others that we discover our personal path and purpose in life, the mystery of our existence and our personal destiny" Mbigi (2006)

Closing Thoughts

Recently, a woman at the gym gave some unsolicited feedback about my body. She stated: do you realize there is no fat on your back? Her immediate assumption was that I had always been slender-muscular, was most likely a vegetarian, and knew nothing about the pain of carrying excess weight or eating more than my body needed to function optimally. This Sistah's observations were as far from the truth as South Central Los Angeles is from South Africa! My passage towards peace with food has been long and seemingly endless, however, finally the path is clear and I'd love to help facilitate your journey there too.

Asante Sana!
